Lovely weather – the Spring is coming?

Guys, did you see the wonderful weather of this week? It was really amazing to enjoy such a weather in this part of the year… (plus it was very helpful for all the constructions, they could proceed without any problem). Actually this weather is so good that it has taken the mind of people from work, so everyone in every chance tries to escape from the offices (except weird people like me, with endless clients waiting to be served, new ones coming every day and my perfectionist wish to arrange everything as good as possible)
This Spring and Summer will be probably one of the most welcomed ones, as now a serious majority of Romanian population has the income to spend and the desire to take advantage of every opportunity, so as to provide to theirselves and families the best in everything. So prepare to hear for long vacations, huge expenses, luxurious resorts and new record in holiday trips…

“I also want a subscription in a fitness club”
I was listening to the radio while coming to my office and my poor Romanian understood something which is 100% true. Some employees appear in interviews with demands in their package of work which include even a subscription in their desired fitness club. Of course the media always enjoys exaggerating, so they say in the beginning that the employees want a huge list of things, but then they specify that this is only for the top management.
I personally offer to my people a mobile, a car (to the ones with relevant task) and the costs of it, private health coverage and a rewarding programme similar to “stock options”, but dealing with properties. Many people have told me that several major multinational brands offer many more things, such as coupons for food, private pension and other facilities. As the villa which I use for the headquarters of my companies has a lot of space, I even think about hiring a lady to cook every day healthy food for all my people and me. But… honestly, I didn’t see my people really… excited about this. Neither with tickets for concerts or major events, not even with paid vacation.
Is it really THIS the priority for an employer? Does it REALLY matter for a normal Romanian employee? I strongly doubt, although I follow the trend as much as I can. For me someone who wants to work, should be more attentive in the company itself, the potential of growth, the chances for career, the strategy of the company, who is the leader, how he can receive from the company useful things which will upgrade his professional status and profile and how he will gain the best possible “appreciation of his work in terms of money” (as you notice I don’t call it “salary and bonuses”).
