Irrelevant, but I can not bypass it…

Either late in the night, when I finish work, or early in the morning, when I wake up, I always download the news from the top greek television. Sometimes I listen to them like a radio, as I am moving around my apartment, or I work on something. This was also the case the previous days. While in Romania the economy has reached incredibly high records, in my country the situation is  the opposite and a “hurricane of taxes” is necessary so as the shrinking national budget to be balanced. This didn’t shock me, I am actually used to this news (since I remember myself following up the news of economy, since 1987, its always “the national budget of next year is critical for the future of our economy and we don’t have money for anything”). But…
… what I heard after, made me stick to my pc, so as to watch it carefully. In a medium / small Greek city, Xanthi, the Fiscal Administration authority is located in an old building (like everywhere else). This building doesn’t have space anymore, thus thousands of (very important) files are stored in the… toilettes! Also they are stored in the roof!
The view of women knocking on the door so as to hear if anyone is inside and then if he is not to enter and take the file they need, the view of men doing the same for the women toilettes and also watching a lady with a flashing light in the darkness of the roof searching for fiscal files really shocked me. (You can also guess that “barcode systems” for Greek fiscal documents are unknown words, so the importance of all papers is even bigger).
Lets hope that sooner or later all the bureaucrats will get serious and this authority will be moved in new building (which is ready since long time ago, but for bureacratical reasons it is not used), before…
