Daily issues…
Today I would like to draw your attention to some small issues that we all see around us lately, but maybe we do not really focus on them.
- Less traffic or just my idea? I drive every day around the city and since the beginning of the year my impression is that the traffic has been reduced. I would say 15 – 20%, but in some cases it could be even more than 30%. Is it only my opinion? Did you notice this as well? Except the… dramatic area of DN1, where the problem is unsolved for the moment, please give me your feedback … (Reasons for this? Probably the economic crisis too…)
- Psychological problems to appear? If the phenomenon of less traffic will continue, soon the psychiatrists of Bucharest will be happy to see many new clients entering their doors. And this because without queues of cars, people will not have the pleasure to press the klaxon, a habit which has become part of their life. Didn’t you notice that when the light turns green, you hear klaxons competing which will be heard first; yours in 1 second or mine in 0.3 seconds? Or his, who will start pressing, even before the light to be green? I think we should not abandon these thousands of people; the state has to protect them somehow, probably by organizing games! Where all of them will be in queues, lights will be instantly changing and the fastest… klaxon user will receive a gift. Please, help this minority; let us create queues and traffic, so as they will press their klaxon with pleasure and they will be saved by a psychological break down…
- Fewer passengers in airplanes, cheaper fares… The first time I travelled by plane this year, I noticed many empty seats, even on Sunday, usually a very busy day. The second time I asked around and people in the airport told me that most of the planes come and go with a seriously lower level of occupancy comparing to 2008. Less Romanians travelled, fewer businessmen came to the country. This is why my tickets became a bit cheaper, from the ridiculous prices of 350 – 400 euro for a distance of 700 km (Thessaloniki – Bucharest).
- Less people willing to change job. With the new market standards, most of the “Kangaroos” (who were jumping from one job to the other every few months) have settled down for good. Afraid of losing their jobs, hearing that when it comes to lay off, the directors usually choose the ones with less months in the company, the vast majority of the unserious people stopped this behaviour. They were changing jobs with the same frequency I go to my hairdresser (once per 45 days), but now they got scared. Hopefully after this first step, they will also proceed to a second one; by deciding to really work for the company they are hired. When this miracle will happen, we will know that the crisis really helped some people here to improve their lives…
- Some weeks ago, a developer had presented his residential project to the board of a bank… (his own real words): “With the situation of the market today, what is the worst that you can have? Pneumonia, Syphilis or an apartment of 5 rooms in a building with red bullet in the centre of Bucharest?” All the board replied “either Pneumonia or Syphilis”. But he contradicted them… “It is the apartment, because it is the only one of the three that you can not get rid of it today, no matter how much you will try”. Interesting approach…
