Cannes, day 1: Time for Quality – Quantity is history…

The no. 1 Real Estate exhibition of the World showed us more than clearly that the World is still approaching cautiously the available investment opportunities. Half of the private companies which were present as exhibitors last year are absent now, most of them did not even appear as visitors. The vast majority of investors are not here, not only missing from our stand, but missing from the whole exhibition. Some few hundreds of people in total can not be compared to the many thousands of the previous years.
But this new era brings up to surface Quality! Yesterday I had two excellent meetings, which (due to the unfortunately quiet atmosphere) lasted quite long. The first one was with one of the top 5 experts in Romanian market, who offered me a valuable “seminar” – part of his wisdom and the second one with one of the top retail developers in the country. Except these two, just few more meetings, but all of them very important and interesting, what we call “Quality”. Nothing to compare with last year or 2007, when people were waiting in the queue to talk for investments.
In the same time, I am really proud of my company and its presence here, the best one we ever had in an international exhibition, with the largest stand we ever had, the best location and the best design so far. So, instead of being disappointed of the lack of quantity, I decided to focus on the quality we find here and see the glass “half full”.
